Keeping our city clean and welcoming is a shared responsibility that benefits every resident. The City of Hinton is stepping up with a free Community Clean Up program starting Tuesday, May 26. This initiative offers a convenient way for residents to dispose of bulky, broken, or discarded items properly. Residents will be required to haul these items to the two (2) dumpsters provided. By participating, you help maintain the beauty and safety of our neighborhoods while reducing waste in public spaces. Bring your items to these 2 places below (there will be no pickup on street):

How the Community Clean Up Program Works

The City of Hinton provides two large roll off containers where residents can bring their unwanted bulky items. This service is free and designed to make it easier for everyone to dispose of items that do not fit in regular trash bins. Here’s what you need to know:

  • No household trash is accepted. Only bulky, broken, or discarded items.

  • No construction debris or tires will be allowed.

  • Items will not be picked up from streets, alleys, or roads. Do not leave anything on the street for pickup. Place all items in provided dumpsters at locations below.

  • Security cameras monitor both sites to ensure proper use and safety.

Dumpster Locations

  1. Freight Depot Parking Lot

Located behind the Section House Museum on Commercial Street. To get there, from Summers Street, turn onto 5th Avenue toward the waterslide, then take the first right onto Commercial Street. The dumpster will be straight ahead in the parking lot.

  2. 501 Stokes Drive

At the former Long John Silver location, beside Lifeline Church. Thanks to Ken Allman and Stephanie Stiffler of MountainPlex Properties LLC for supporting this site.

Who Can Use This Service?

This program is available only to residents of Hinton. If you are elderly, handicapped, disabled, or lack transportation, the city encourages you to ask a neighbor, family member, or friend for help bringing your items to the dumpsters. The city does not have the staff to provide door-to-door pickup.
