Stabilizing history ...

Thanks to the dedicated work of Candice Helms (City of Hinton/AmeriCorps), grants from the West Virginia State Historic Preservation Office and the professional expertise of City Architect Bryson VanNostrand, the original New River Grocery building at Summers/5th Avenue in the Hinton National Historic District is being restored and stabilized for future development.

The contract work includes: 1) removal of collapsed brick 2) removal of collapsed interior support beams 3) re-construction of original wall with original brick 4) re-construction of interior support wood beams; and

5) new roof.

A great big THANK YOU to all for saving this historic structure!

Would love to see Mark Bowe and the team from Barnwood Builders have a hand in restoring the wooden beams.
